Problem Analysis
In its initial phase the project will perform an analysis whose outcome will be used as input to the requirements of the following work. This analysis will have a technical and a market approach and cover a wide range of MHP aspects, amongst them:
• MHP implementations in STBs and IDTV sets.
• Development and use of MHP play-outs and e2e architectures.
• Development and execution of MHP applications.
• IRT's interoperability workshops.
• Experience from preparation and use of the DVB MHP test-suites for STBs.
The analysis will identify issues/topics of importance to MHP related industry, which need further investigation.
Those issues will be collected amongst the consortium partners who have made experiences in the field of various MHP developments for some years. As the partners come from various European countries and work at different steps of the value chain, they will represent quite a general and wide view of the MHP market. Furthermore all project partners will use their contacts to ask many more companies (broadcasters, manufacturers and others) to contribute. Via national platforms the consortium partners will get in contact also with commercial program providers. Thus the MHP-KDB project will get an overall view of the MHP interoperability status.
Although not actively sought, interoperability issues as far as related to GEM will be taken into account as far as they are of interest and therefore contributed to the project by partners or other market players who provide input to the knowledge database.
The identified requirements will firstly define the basis for the development of the tools which is the technical architecture of portal and knowledge data base, the validation tools needed and the test procedures and facilities which have to be made available.
Furthermore the analysis will determine the topics within MHP applications and the whole MHP value chain which need a more detailed investigation and thereby the actual content of the data base.
The findings of the analysis will also determine the structure of the guidelines, recommendations and publications, which basically are the end result of the MHP Knowledge building project.
During further phases of the project the analysis will also cover the ongoing work and function as a decision preparing forum if new directions or actions are needed during the project lifetime.
