Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB)
RBB is the regional public service broadcaster for Berlin and Brandenburg. RBB runs a regional television channel, 7 radio channels and also provides comprehensive news and programme information on the Internet and Teletext. In addition, RBB is responsible for several ARD facilities including the ARD Play-Out-Center, which transmits a bouquet of TV and radio channels and interactive TV services via DVB. As a modern broadcaster RBB is active in developing new media technology and is currently testing the production of innovative digital services for DVB-T.
Role within the MHP-KDB project:
RBB (ARD Play-Out-Center) is representative for European broadcasters and application providers, and thus for two main user groups in the end to end take-up of MHP. Having broadcasted innovative digital TV services since 1997, the company is one of the iTV pioneers in Europe. In line with its commitment as a public broadcaster to provide seamless access to information, RBB (ARD Play-Out-Center) has been actively supporting the MHP standard from its early introduction. MHP-KDB is the logic consequence of further following this road and both receive and give support in making MHP a success. RBB plans to contribute to these targets by:
• pinning down all still existing problems (analysis of current situation fed from implementing the standard at the ARD Play-Out-Center)
• issuing requirements for establishing the MHP data base
• developing "easy to use" generic MHP-sample applications/software fragments for an open library.
